We have a very busy month of exciting learning experiences coming up for our students!
In Social Studies, we are wrapping up our unit on North Carolina geography and will be beginning a two-week unit on holiday traditions around the world on December 7th. We will be learning about Diwali, St. Lucia's Day, Las Posadas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and Chinese New Year. This will be a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about other cultures while also sharing their own family holiday traditions. The holiday traditions unit will culminate with a classroom celebration on December 18th.
We have concluded our Science unit on animal and plant adaptations and are starting a new unit on rocks and minerals. We are excited to be taking a field trip to the Vulcan Rock Quarry on December 4th.
Our math focus this month is on place value up to one million and multi-step word problems containing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
In reading, our informational text unit continues with determining main idea and supporting details, inferring, summarizing non-fiction text, and identifying text structures such as cause and effect.
It's going to be a great month of learning in our class!
